Physical Therapy Schools Offer Natural Healing Instruction by: Michael Bustamante

There are several good physical therapy schools where you can learn to be a physical therapist. Today's health care profession is looking for well-trained, caring individuals to assist injured or diseased patients with physical therapy, and you could soon be working among them.

The various schools of physical therapy in the US and Canada may be found in colleges, universities, and natural healing schools. The best physical therapy schools will offer a classroom instruction that can be applied to physical therapists, rehabilitation therapy specialists, and other health care professionals. Topics of physical therapy instruction can include the basic sciences (neuroanatomy, human growth, biomechanics, physics, chemistry, biology, etc.) in order to prepare students to become licensed physical therapists. Of course, schools for physical therapy also provide many hours of laboratory and clinical instruction in physical therapy techniques.

In order to become a licensed physical therapist, you will need to successfully complete a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. If you are already a practicing physical therapist, you may enter what is sometimes called a Direct Entry Master's in Physical Therapy (MPT) or Direct Entry Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT). Those with at least a Bachelor's Degree may enter into these programs. Once the Master's is completed, you may opt to continue your education to earn a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, sometimes called a Post Professional Doctorate, which will take about two more years of study. Upon graduation, you will be required to pass a national examination and obtain a license in the state of your practice.

The employment outlook is very good for licensed physical therapists, with an expected annual salary in the range of $60,000 or more. And, the field of physical therapy can be a rewarding career in more ways than just financial. You will also enjoy the gratitude of patients who can resume normal day-to-day functions thanks to your physical therapy training.
